McCarthy Sports has announced that NMU forward Ricky Volcy is one of 60 players who will compete in the inaugural Collegiate Basketball Invitational (CBI) in Wadsworth, Ohio, April 19-21.

The Collegiate Basketball Invitational is a major basketball event, which will gather the finest 60 senior men's basketball players from all of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and III, as well as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

The event will take place at Wadsworth High School and will consist of six teams of 10 players in a double-elimination tournament. Two sessions of two games each will be played both Thursday and Friday with the championship game being played Saturday at noon.

The event will conclude with an All-Star Game on Saturday evening, which will be televised by ESPNU as the top 20 players will be selected to play in the game.

During the three-day event, players will have the opportunity to compete in front of professional team representatives, agents and national media, while competing against the best of the best from around the country.

Volcy has had quite the off-season, earning a number of accolades during the month of March. He was named to the 2007 Daktronics NCAA II Men's Basketball All-American Team. Volcy was selected to the third team and was the lone player from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) named to the squad.

Volcy was named the GLIAC Player of the Year for the 2006-07 season and was a three-time selection to the All-GLIAC North Division first team during his collegiate career. He averaged 22.5 points, 11th in NCAA II, and 9.6 rebounds last season.

The team was selected by votes from NCAA II sports information directors.

Volcy has also already played in the Second Annual NABC/NCAA II All-Star Game, which was March 23 at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. The All-Star Game was a part of the NCAA II Men's Basketball Elite Eight.
