It seems that NMU hockey team is making a trend out of signing European talent.

The Wildcats have officially signed Swedish forward Greger Hansen, who played two full seasons at Sweden's SuperElit level. Hansen's signing comes just days after NMU announced the signing of Erik Gustafsson, another Swedish player.

"Greger Hansen is a guy that is a high-end offensive forward with real good hands and real good vision," NMU head coach Walt Kyle said. "He is a guy that we think is going to contribute. The game is turning into such a special-teams game right now and we think he is a guy that will be able to, over time, contribute on a power-play."

In 74 games, Hansen collected 23 goals and 32 assists.

The influx of European talent is something that Kyle and his staff has been working to establish for the past couple of seasons and they hope that the newly acquired European players can bring a spark to a team that finished last season with a 15-24-2 overall record and a 10-17-1 mark in the CCHA.

"We think these guys are going to be very, very good for us," Kyle concluded.
