The NMU Hockey team will have to wait even longer to avenge its six-game losing streak. The Wildcats’ series against the University of Alabama-Huntsville on Friday, Jan. 22 and Saturday, Jan. 23 has been postponed due a COVID-19 pause in the Chargers’ program.

“The Western College Hockey Association announced Wednesday that the Jan. 22-23 WCHA series between Northern Michigan and Alabama Huntsville has been postponed due to a COVID-19- related pause in team activities at Alabama Huntsville. Rescheduling details for the series will be announced at a later date,” the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Northern will now shift focus to its next series, a two-game road trip against Ferris State University, who the Wildcats have beaten twice on the season. The ‘Cats opened the season after a COVID-19 pause of their own, and defeated FSU 5-4 at the Berry Events Center on Dec. 16. Both squads went at it again down in Big Rapids, where the ‘Cats came back from a 3-0 deficit to win 6-5 in overtime on Dec. 30.
